MAMGU WELSHCAKES

MamGu Welshcake in tongs     MamGu Welshcakes making welshcakes     MamGu Welshcakes on plate

MamGu Welshcakes all began in 2016 with two friends whose love for coastal culture and cake transcended into a fully fledged business after being inspired by a pancake house whilst on a trip to Holland.

Just like the Dutch, The Welsh celebrate their patriotism with a burst of modern vibrancy and the two friends wondered how they could transform this passion into a welsh cake... 700 + welsh cakes later the duo cracked it! The perfect welsh cake recipe was discovered and the introduction of alternative flavours began. From their first ever Christmas market armed with just a gazebo and one small griddle, they now have a much loved cafe in Solva Harbour, a bakery in Croesgoch and a second one in the UK's smallest city in St Davids. It’s safe to say that MamGu Welshcakes have gone from strength to strength.

Sustainability is at the heart of MamGu’s. It's not just about cake, it's about local people and their environment. They are proud to be employing over fifteen full time local bakers and coffee makers.

Croesgoch, a little village 6 miles north of Britains smallest city, St David's, is where you'll find MamGu's bakers hard at work 7 days a week. All their welsh cakes are hand made and decorated fresh to order, in their specifically built welsh cake bakery.

When they prepare and cook gluten free products in Croesgoch they do a deep clean 24hrs before. Gluten free products are never prepared, cooked or packaged at the same time as others.
