Aber Falls Inaugural Release Single Malt Welsh Whisky 46%, 70cl
Tasting notes: With initial notes of tropical fruits, coconut, mango and banana, alongside scents of sweet hay and cut grass this exceptional single malt whisky has flavours of dark chocolate and golden syrup, influences of cream and vanilla with hints of pine.
This Inaugural release is one of 2000 bottles made from Aber Falls' first mature casks. A mix of American Virgin Oak, Sherry and Orange wine casks has made a unique release setting the course for the distillery's future.
Rock filtered water from the famous Aber Falls is mixed with the finest Welsh ingredients. Distilled, aged and bottled at the distillery in Abergywngregyn, nestled between Snowdonia and the shores of the Menai Strait.
Distilled and matured to perfection, Aber Falls produce only the highest quality single malt whiskies, which are expertly distilled and aged at their distillery. Once distilled, a range of specially selected wooden casks are used to store the liquid for maturation. These impart flavour and depth into the whisky, while their expert distillers work on combining these flavours to achieve the optimum quality and taste.
In The Welsh Wind Inaugural Release Whisky, 70cl
Tasting Notes: A medium aroma on the nose, with hints of ripe pear and succulent melon harmonising with beeswax and honey. There's a grainy sweetness on the palate, which mingles with poached pears and soft brown sugar, buttery pastry and vailla oak. Delicate oaking on the finish.
Penderyn Serpent's Tears Single Malt Welsh Whisky - Inaugural Release, 46%, 70cl
From the Viking Longships, the brooding North Wales headland emerging from the fog and mist resembled a terrible and fearsome beast. The Great Orme, derived from the Old Norse meaning ‘Great Serpent’ had survived volcanic eruptions, dinosaurs, and the Ice Age, so no wonder it created dread in the minds of these sea-farers, many of who foundered in the tears of the Serpent. Nestling in the shadow of The Great Orme, Penderyn Llandudno Lloyd Street distillery has crafted and matured this lightly peated whisky, reminding us of the adventurous spirit of past explorers and the natural beauty of our home.
Nose: An autumnal day in a glass. Dry leaves, orchard fruits, wood smoke - dry logs on the crackling open fire. Some creamy notes in the background and heavy toasted bread. Palate: Sweet peat, soft vanilla cream, sugared pancake with burnt edges. Baking apples with the hint of malt and a touch of peppery spice and clove.
Finish: Warming soft peat that lingers in the mouth with a barley sweetness.
