In years gone by, butter was churned on most farms across Wales and there is a strong Welsh connection with salty butter. The historically heavily salted butter recipes were a key part of Welsh Miners’ diets to help them maintain their salt levels as they worked hard underground in the mines. This tradition for salty butters still lives on today and Castle Dairies have retained their unique Welsh recipe which is crafted to deliver just the right balance of salty notes for modern tastes, whilst honouring connections with the past.
Castle Dairies' spreadable butters are made using a simple, gentle cold mix process – with no added heat, keeping it simple, so the butter stays as pure and tasty as possible. They don’t overwork the butter so the delicate butter fats stay intact and perhaps gives a better and richer tasting product. To make spreading effortless, they blend their spreadable butter with just the right amount of rapeseed oil to soften the texture, so it’s ready to enjoy straight from the fridge.
