GOLDEN ROAD GIN
High in the Preseli Hills of Pembrokeshire, above the sweep of the Irish Sea, runs an ancient hilltop track, the Golden Road. This ancient superhighway is over 5,000 years old, older than the pyramids, and you can still walk it today. It’s a place of wild nature and wide skies, of ancient trade routes and stories carried across centuries.
Golden Road Gin was created by Jen and Phil Wheeler in rural Pembrokeshire. 18 months of long days in the botanicals room, selecting, testing, refining and starting again. Fresh bay leaf hand-picked from their farm at the foot of the Preseli Hills, distilled fresh, not dried, which gives a subtle delicious depth you can’t quite put your finger on but you miss when it isn’t there. Juniper, sweet orange, lemon peel, pink peppercorns and cherry tea, all carefully balanced to create a citrus lift, gentle warmth and a soft floral finish. It’s an elegant and delicate gin. Refreshing, smooth and layered. Without shouting.
Jen and Phil weren’t interesting in creating a fashionable gin, rather a genuinely delicious, elegant and refreshing spirit. From their farm to your glass.
Golden Road Gin has won multiple awards, most recently the highly coveted a Gold Medal at the 2026 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, one of the world’s most respected spirits competitions. With over 4,000 entries in 2026 and a blind judging process led by experienced spirits experts, buyers, bartenders, educators and drinks professionals, the award is a significant international endorsement of quality. Golden Road is the only gin from Wales to achieve a Gold Medal in 2026’s competition. They also won Best in Class at World Gin Awards 2025.
The Golden Road has been walked for Millennia – a route of connection, exchange and shared experiences. They think that’s rather fitting because Golden road Gin isn’t about status or show. It’s about bringing people together. it’s about lighting the fire, setting the table, and taking the time to drive the scenic route home.
They donate from every bottle to support the Pembrokeshire Coast and use recyclable glass and natural wool insulation because the landscape deserves protecting.
Distilled in small batches, with big spirit.
