HALEN MON | ANGLESEY SEA SALT

Ancre Hill Estates

Sea Salt was made on the island of Anglesey up until the late eighteenth century, and Halen Môn have resurrected this age-old craft by combining traditional hand harvesting with brand new technology to produce the crunchy white flakes of Halen Môn.

In 1997, searching for something to generate income in the winter, the owners of Anglesey Sea Zoo left a pan of sea water on their Aga to boil and Halen Mon Sea Salt was born. Produced using extremely pure sea water from off the coast of Anglesey, Halen Môn is now sold around the world, to supermarkets like Waitrose and Marks and Spencer and is used as ingredient in a wide range of products from Green and Blacks chocolate to crisps and Halen Mon’s own product range.

The sea water is naturally filtered though a mussel bed and a sandbank and then filtered through Halen Mon’s pure charcoal filter and then heated in a vacuum to boil at a low temperature then allowed to crystallise.
