HIVE MIND MEAD AND BREW CO
Brothers Kit and Matt are beekeepers and mead makers from South Wales who combined their deep love for the natural world, and their interest in brewing to transform honey into modern, contemporary sparkling and multi-award winning, traditional wine-style meads (and now soft drinks too!).
After taking up beekeeping at the age of 13, the love for bees, honey, and the countryside sparked their journey. They began in Matt’s garage - converted into a micro-meadery to test their ideas and their very first 300L batch earned a 2 Star Great Taste Award.
Hive Mind Mead and Brew Co's mead is a little different to the mass-market offerings - they make them from 100% British honey (including honey from their own bees) - rather than using a base of white wine sweetened with sugar. This means their meads are the genuine article that support UK beekeepers, are minimally processed, and all natural (and delicious!).
Water + Honey + Yeast = Mead
Their mission is to bring real authentic mead back and offer it as a contemporary alternative to beer, cider and wine.
There is a saying in the honey world, "Real honey isn't cheap, and cheap honey isn't real" - the same can be applied to the world of mead. There are many drinks on the market claiming to be mead, but under close scrutiny they are white wines sweetened with sugar, with honey flavourings, or spirit alcohol blended with water and flavourings.
They have pioneered sparkling light mead that you can enjoy in the same way as a beer or cider, brewed to a lower alcohol level than a typical mead. It is delicious on a hot day, and as a simple drink to enjoy at the end of a long day. All of the alcohol is created by fermenting honey.
