Dairying has long been the primary farming focus for the area of South West Wales that encompasses the counties of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire, having ideal climatic conditions for grass growing, with up to 125cm of rainfall a year and a warming effect of the Atlantic Ocean Drift bringing warm sea currents to the rugged coastline.
