The variety is the language that the story is written in, but the geology and the climate are the story itself.

Alisdair Tulloch ‘lives’ that philosophy and that ‘ideal’ in his wines. He’s got some lovely old vine Syrah, and it speaks for sure … but there’s a lot more here, flavours and sensations that go way beyond ‘fruit’. Alisdair has some special, basalt rich, dark soils up there in the Tawarri vineyard and that’s the ‘story’ that he somehow coaxes the wine to tell. He’s 100% making Australian wines but he’s worked a lot in France and there’s influences.
