Deep amber colour. Rich, complex notes of honey, ripe peach, dried apricot. Decadently sweet but with Chenin Blanc acidity. Long notes of candied fruit and honey.
Whilst sweet (the appellation only allows for sweet wine production), the sugar appears to have been mostly consumed with age and what remains is a lovely, mature old-fashioned Chenin that exhibits great balance. Match with cheese or a savoury dish now, although it is traditional within the region to serve Coteaux du Layon as an aperitif.
